B is for Blyton

B is for Enid Blyton. One of my favourite authors as a kid. I immensely enjoyed her Famous Five books, Secret Seven, Malory Towers, and of course the bed time stories and other fantasy books that introduced me to a world of Goblins, Fairies, Pixies and Elves.

Have you read any of her books? Do you think kids today will enjoy her books?

Great idea, to post about different authors each day. You have some of my faves in your list of books, too. In creative writing classes here, if we were to use 'Blytonese' in our YA writing, we'd be rapped on the knuckles. 'Kids don't have lashings of ginger beer these days, but they do have mobile phones.' That's a quote from a book and I need to find the ref. for you. Re. Agatha Christie, The National Trust here has just renovated her house, Greenways, in Devon, and opened it to the public. My sister went; she said the gardens are spectacular. Good luck.

Thanks for the info on Agatha Christie's house, I would like to go there. Can't help laughing about ginger beer lashings and cell phones! Thanks for stopping by.

I loved both the series (procured from the school library or friends), Fatso and his disguises, would try and imagine how he and the others looked in real life.
